Literature: Amnesia as a literary tool

I was thinking about writing my own short story with a protagonist that suffers from amnesia even before I stumbled upon last post’s reblogged short story. Think about it, it is a way to bypass introductions and level the field with the reader, making her/him more empathetic towards the protagonist.
